Broad-leaved Helleborine |
A quick update on Harold the Hedgehog and Raymond the Soprano Pipistrelle...firstly sad news that despite the best efforts of the Bat Hospital Raymond suffered a suspected heart attack and passed away on Tuesday last week. Better news on Harold...he has his ticks removed and the fly eggs too from around his eye and he is now busily putting on weight at the British Wildlife Centre, Lingfield.
Meanwhile at Warnham LNR most of the Broad-leaved Helleborines are now finishing flowering or have already gone over. Still lots to see on the dragonfly front with Brown Hawker, Common Darter, Black-tailed Skimmer, Southern Hawker and Migrant Hawker all being seen daily.
On the bird front autumn migration has started with the Common Tern's now all on there way to Africa. House Martins and Swallows have been moving south over Warnham in large numbers for the past week and this morning a single Lesser Whitethroat was around the dipping ponds.
