Warnham LNR Moth Trap

As there has been a real influx into the UK in scarce migrant moths I finally managed to get around to putting a couple of traps out around the reserve and managed to catch only a single migrant in the form of a Rush Veneer. Probably the least exciting looking migrant possible! See photo below...

There were a decent number of moths in the trap however so it was still worth putting it out. Highlights included my first 'second-brood' Chocolate-tip, a single Canary-shouldered Thorn and the Nationally Scarce 'B' Webb's Wainscot which is a regular catch at Warnham LNR.

And finally I also caught a few moths which were new for the year taking the tally to a mediocre 215. These included the micro Pammene aurita, Rosy Rustic, Orange Swift and Round-winged Muslin. Also of note in the trap were 5 Water Veneer which are not often seen in more than singles.
