Warnham LNR

Lesser Redpoll
A pretty quiet day around the reserve today with the water level beginning to rise a few more diving ducks have been around with up to 12 Tufted Duck and 6 Pochard. It seems that our Gadwall have finally left us but hopefully for not too long.

The Woodpecker Hide is starting to pick up with plenty of birds coming to the feeders. Mainly Blue and Great Tit as well as 30+ Chaffinch. It is worth keeping your eyes peeled for a Brambling in amongst them at the moment. In with the finches today was a single Lesser Redpoll. Hopefully there numbers with start to pick up when the frosts start.

It was the first of the Winter Magpie Roost Count's tonight and it finished at a lowly 36. By the end of December I expect this to be nudging three figures. There were also 12 Cormorant into roost as well as a single Little Egret.
