Warnham LNR

Lesser Redpoll - Warnham LNR
A very miserable weekend allowed me to catch up with inputting some of the records into Recorder which always needs to be done. Out and about on ther reserve the Lesser Redpoll numbers are really starting to build up with 37 spread across the site today. There are also frequent visits from Marsh and Coal Tit's to the Woodpecker Hide. There was also 4 Great Black-backed Gulls on the millpond which is by far our rarest resident gull here.

From the boardwalks a Water Rail was heard squealing but remained hidden and the Jay's are still very busy stashing as many nuts as they can fit in their beaks, the most I counted in a short visit was 21 peanuts in the birds beak/crop! Amazing how many they can take and bury around the reserve. Also on the trail camera a further 2 Red Fox and 2 Roe Deer.
