Warnham LNR - Gulls

Common Gull

Herring Gull

Lesser Black-backed Gull

Black-headed Gull
Whilst the lake is frozen it is a good time to have a look at the variety of gulls which visit from the local tip to wash and sleep. Pictured above are the four main gulls which can be seen on the reserve at the minute, although Great Black-backed and Mediterranean Gull are also sometimes seen.

Highlights from today: 4 Water Rail, 1 Pochard, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Redwing, 90+ Greylag Geese. Good numbers of both Common and LBB Gulls. Also 2 Red Fox seen hunting on the ice again.
