Warnham LNR Moth Trap

Elephant Hawk-moth

Burnished Brass

Orthopygia glaucinalis
Moth traps are finally getting busy and there were several new moths for the year including Burnished Brass and Orthopygia glaucinalis. To keep up to date with all the moths I have been catching at Warnham LNR check out the year species list here: Warnham Moth List 2012

Elswhere the 3 Common Tern chicks are doing well and are starting to feather up nicely. There have been plenty of House Martins around the lake all day which is pretty unusual at this time of year and may well be failed breeders. Also a very unseasonal Black-headed Gull has been floating around.
