Warnham LNR

Lesser Stag Beetle
A busy day on the reserve with a school group in for most of the day but some good bits were still seen all around the site. The Common Tern chicks are still doing well and seem to be getting bigger by the hour, there were 2 Downy Emeralds patrolling the dipping ponds and Marsh Frogs were also calling from here.

In the afternoon I was packing away the school gear when a beetle on the wall of the centre caught my eye. It turned out to be my first adult Lesser Stag Beetle. A wonderful looking beetle however it was quite a challenge to photograph. Moth trap is out tonight so fingers crossed for the morning.
