After an incubation of 27 days the Greylag Geese which nested in the Middle Dipping Pond finally hatched on Friday. They are very friendly and the parents are doing a great job looking after them and leading them back to the pond when any danger presents itself. The next step is to see whether the parents will lead them onto the millpond and risk meeting the Mute Swan's or whether they will be content on the dipping ponds!

We also decided to run the moth trap last night which was a bit of last minute decision as the whether seemed to look quite promising. In total we caught 28 moths of 18 species which is a very small total when compared to previous years. Highlights in the trap were two Chocolate-tip's, two Poplar Hawk-moth and a single Pebble Prominent

TU and the Friends of Warnham LNR also had a Small Mammal Trapping session last night and managed to catch 2 Wood Mice and 2 Common Shrew. Hopefully we will be able to get a bit more trapping done now the weather seems to be slightly more settled...for now!
