Horsham River Clean-ups with the Arun and Rother Connections Project

Horsham River Clean-ups

  10am - 4pm
River clean upFancy getting your wellies on?
ARC and Horsham District Council have teamed up to help clean up the Arun.
Our aim is to clean the river of rubbish, pull invasive plant species and cut back encroaching vegetation. If you love the river and want to help for a few hours, then get in touch!
  • 18 April - Bartholomew Way. We will be meeting at Roffe
y Football Club car park to concentrate on the area surrounding Bartholomew Way. For the afternoon session we will be heading onto Warnham Nature Reserve. Download the flier HERE.
  • 27 June - Hills Farm Lane. We will be litter picking and pulling Himalayan Balsam - a non-native plant that contributes to river bank erosion. Download the flier HERE.
  • 4 July - Ben's Acre. We will be litter picking and clearing the area of the delightfully named non-native Skunk Cabbage. Download the flier HERE.
  • 18 July - St Mary's. We will be litter picking and clearing the river bank of any rubbish. Download the flier HERE.

We'll provide all the equipment and training on the day and cake as a bonus for all the hard work. Himalayan Balsam is easy to pull as it is shallow rooted and Skunk Cabbage needs to be dug out with forks and spades. There will be bending and lifting involved for these tasks but everyone can work at their own pace.
