OK I am going to put you out of your misery...!
Question 1 - Couple of people got this right was indeed a Great-spotted Woodpecker feather. (Now is a good time to look for feathers as many of the birds are moulting)
Question 2 - Not one right answer for this one...it was in fact a Grey Squirrel tooth! Due to there teeth constantly growing they actually curve right round the lower mandible!
