Warnham LNR

Well over 100 Common Swifts present around the millpond today with 50+ Swallow and 50+ House Martin also. The countdown has begun for the hatching of both pairs of Common Tern which are on the raft closest to the Tern Hide.

The Kestrel's were very active around the golf course and wet meadow today and the male in particular is out hunting non-stop. Elsewhere the other highlights were all flyovers...first was a Hobby heading south along the A264 which flew over the carpark. Next was an unseasonal Cormorant which came over high heading northwest. And finally our second record of the year of Collared Dove, a single bird flying down the wet meadow. Can anyone explain why Warnham gets next to no Collared Doves even though they are often seen on Warnham Rd?!

Also 17 Common Spotted Orchid in a quick count and Marsh Frogs calling from the dipping ponds.
