Recording The Ride

Rosy Footman
Today the Friends of Warnham LNR ran an event to record all he species where possible in the new Butterfly Ride. We have decided to try and map all the species so we can move/alter/introduce and control various things as the ride develops through the years.

We ran a Moth Trap as well as Small Mammal Trapping using Longworth Traps and also did a survey of Wildflowers, Butterflies, Insects and anything else we stumbled across! The moth trap produced 44 species of which the prettiest by far went to the Rosy Footman (See above). Of note there were lots of young Frogs and Toads probably numbering hundreds if we were to count them all!

We were kept company by a young Common Buzzard calling in the distance whilst the Friends went about recording all the species. All list combined we ended up with over 100 species of flora and fauna. Our thanks once again go to the Friends for sorting out the event.
