Great White Egret |
Our new warden Paul went to do the early rounds at Warnham this morning and was soon joined by a large white heron with a yellow bill. Unsure what to make of it he rang Stuart who immediately started running to the Heron Hide. Sure enough Paul had found a monster bird for the reserve, in the shape of a Great White Egret. It didn't hang around long at all and flew off north at c9.10am and wasn't seen again all day.
A truly fantastic bird and hot on the heels of the reserve's first Roseate Tern, maybe we can live without an Osprey this year if these rarities keep coming along! What will be next I wonder?
The blog will be offline for two week's as I am on holiday so please keep an eye on the twitter feed on the right-hand side of the page. Hopefully something else will turn up soon!
