Warnham LNR

Common Frog
The millpond has been building up with birds all week with over 100 of both Greylag and Canada Geese each day. Also there has been a return of Cormorants with at least three birds being seen. Coot numbers have reached an unprecedented high of 36! And Teal numbers have peaked at 11 so far this week. Slightly strangely Tufted Duck numbers have dropped a little and we still await our first Pochard of the autumn.

Common Darters, Migrant Hawkers and Southern Hawkers are all very easy to see at the moment even in overcast conditions. This week has seen the Sedum come into flower by Bugingham Palace which has meant an increase in Comma's, Red Admiral's and Large Whites all of which have been permanent fixtures in the insect garden.

I wonder when our first Redwing, Fieldfare, Water Rail, Siskin or Redpoll will appear. I am sure it won't be long before they do and now the Woodpecker Hide/Feeding Station has had its re-vamp we are all ready for there arrival.
